AutoApply Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
What we collect
To autofill job applications, AutoApply stores the following data on our servers (Azure Cosmos DB and Azure Blob Storage, hosted in Microsoft data centers):
- Account: your Google account email, display name, and the Google subject identifier (a stable, opaque ID) returned when you sign in. We do not receive your Google password.
- Profile: resume (PDF/DOCX), and AI-extracted fields (skills, education, work history, contact details, address, links).
- Application details you enter (work authorization, salary expectation, EEO answers, cover letter, etc.).
- Custom answers typed into the AutoApply ask-popup, indexed by question label, so we can re-use them on future applications.
- Usage: a per-day counter for free-tier rate limiting. No browsing history, no page content, no keystrokes.
What we do NOT collect
- The contents of pages you visit. The Chrome extension only reads form-field labels on the active tab when you click the AutoApply button — it does not stream the DOM to our servers.
- Personal data of recruiters, employers, or third parties on the page.
- Browsing history, cookies of other sites, passwords stored in the browser.
How we use it
- Autofill: When you click AutoApply on a job page, the extension sends the field labels (e.g. "First name", "Visa status") to our backend, which returns matching values from your profile.
- AI matching (optional): Field labels and your profile are sent to Azure AI Foundry (Microsoft) to suggest values for non-standard questions. No data is used to train AI models.
- Job matching (optional): If you use the web app's discover feature, your resume embedding is compared against scraped job postings.
Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data. The only third parties that receive any data are:
- Microsoft Azure (hosting + AI inference) — covered by Microsoft's data processing terms.
- Payment processors (Stripe / Razorpay) — only for paid features, only the payment metadata they need.
Data retention & deletion
Your data is kept until you delete your account. To delete: open the extension's options page, sign out, and email techvibeapps.ai@gmail.com with "delete my account" — we will purge your records within 7 days. You can also delete your resume any time from the options page.
Permissions explained
- activeTab + scripting: Run the autofill script only on the tab where you click the AutoApply button. The script is not pre-injected into any site.
- storage: Save your AutoApply session token locally in the browser.
- identity: Open the Google sign-in window via Chrome's built-in OAuth flow.
- host_permissions (named career sites): Lets the popup ask for the form-field labels on supported career sites (Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, Ashby, Workable, SmartRecruiters, iCIMS, Eightfold, Netflix Jobs).
- optional_host_permissions (https://*/*): Requested only when you click AutoApply on a site we don't already support, so we can autofill there too. Granted by you on demand and revocable in
chrome://extensions.
Google user data: limited use
AutoApply's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The only Google scopes we request are openid email profile, used solely to create and authenticate your AutoApply account. We never use Google data for advertising and we never transfer it to third parties except to provide or improve the service.
